60 years ago, “Fever” by Peggy Lee took the country by storm!

Peggy Lee’s version of “Fever” wasn’t the first but it was one that got her nominated for Record of the Year, Song of the Year, and Best Female Vocal Performance in 1959.

This particular live version was recorded in the late 1960s for a television program.

Peggy Lee was a singer born in North Dakota and she started singing with Benny Goodman’s big band before forging her own path as a jazz/pop singer in her own rite.

Check out the drummer. He’s got some chops! That’s Jack Sperling. His resume working with big bands and swing bands was pretty hard to match then and still today.
